Our working method, our values

- The 5 Sound Oddity Axes for Customer Satisfaction -

Respect for the customer

Sound Oddity wants to develop a long-term customer relationship based on trust. My goal is to have clear, honest and comprehensive exchanges with you. I develop my communication standards and methods on a daily basis to listen, understand, explain, keep informed, share and ask for your feedback. I can be reached on many media: telephone, email, Facebook, WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, SMS.

There are a multitude of HiFi schools. So our approach can be different and sometimes very far apart. However, do not hesitate to share your experience with me. I will explain to you what motivates my choices, the fruit of my long research and experiments over several years.

When dropping off your device for support, allow about thirty minutes. It is important that we do a first-level diagnosis together, to share an initial idea of the condition of your item.

If we have successfully completed your project or if you have purchased one of my items, please send me your feedback, it is essential to the sustainability of Sound Oddity and its continuous improvement. If you are not satisfied, do not hesitate to call me.

Respect for the product

Every object that passes through the Sound Oddity workshop is a valuable object for which you have already made a financial effort, it is the realization of a dream, it has been in your family for decades and you are attached to it, it is a rare object, a legacy of the great era of HiFi where manufacturers competed in ingenuity and innovation with very significant research resources. For these reasons, I do not practice quick and cheap restoration with the means at hand and unsuitable parts.

I work in search of total quality, with a deep respect for the object and for the people who created it. The parts used are intended to be both in total technical adequacy with the need and in total aesthetic adequacy with the machine and its origin. I propose coherence with the value of the machine and with its intrinsic possibilities, towards the optimum of reliability, the optimum of performance, the optimum of musicality. There is no point in putting a Formula 1 engine in a Deux Chevaux

Many devices are not free from industrial compromises that can be eliminated by adding judiciously placed components or by using higher quality components. The so-called "tuning" or ergonomics improvement modifications are done with a search for a professional result. If there is no room, then there is no room, no tinkling. No adding large capacitors, IEC sockets, terminal blocks or HiFi RCA sockets if they cannot be placed properly. On amps that do not have integrated speaker protection, where possible, I can add relay protection in the device. By using the right relays, this protection will not affect the sound quality in any way but will prove invaluable in saving your woofers in the event of failure of the output transistors. TOP

Respect for the facts

Sound Oddity wants to be able to justify its work by respecting good practices and by any necessary means of measurement. I have the devices to be able to measure the impedance curves of the speakers, measure their response curve with their harmonic distortion, measure the weight of the membranes extremely precisely, trace their curves and pair transistors and diodes in their conditions of use, trace their curves and pair tubes, measure capacitors and coils… To further improve my work, I would like to acquire a device for measuring the distortion of audio electronics. You can help me acquire this very expensive machine here. TOP

Respect for deadlines

Of all my work axes, this is the most difficult to respect. By prioritizing quality, I force myself to use the right tools and components that are not always available to me. I have spent more than a day looking for the right screw or even several days looking for the right replacement transistor. Working mainly on a custom basis, the studies are long and surprises are not rare at the different stages of working. With Sound Oddity, it is long and speed is for the moment the exception. All my creations are similar to artist creations, I consider myself an artist engineer and that comes with time and inspiration.

You often ask me to do a good job, at a fair price and if possible for next week. Unfortunately I do not have two additional clones to do things in parallel. I am a craftsman who wants to do quality and I work alone. So I am totally subject to the relationship below:

For the products I develop, I try to standardize as much as possible in order to reduce lead times and costs. Also, investments are amortized over the number and I am hopeful of offering you quality products within reasonable lead times and at consistent prices. TOP

Respect for the future

Sound Oddity is committed to you for the long term and works daily to ensure its sustainability. In the current economic context, my policy is zero debt, even if there are still significant expenses to develop my work towards even more professionalism, flexibility and cost reduction. As a craftsman, I am committed to a process of continuous improvement that will allow me to realize my dream step by step and provide you with ever better products and services.

To ensure the stability of an object on any surface and in all conditions, three points of contact are necessarily required. This is how three complementary strategic areas of activity, or DAS, are prioritized in the development of Sound Oddity, in search of security on the very specific market of Reunion Island. The very difficult market for audio equipment on the island and the completely new market for acoustic treatment can be compensated for if necessary by additional diversification into the manufacture of custom furniture.
